The last tulips and only two decent ranunculus

Tulip season is nearly finished here now and I am clinging on to the last good flowers for as long as I can. The final ones have been lovely, but the ranunculus situation is much less impressive and I seem to have managed only two half decent flowers worth talking about.

May always brings that mixture of momentum and mild chaos. There are busy Saturdays, too many seedlings to pot on, midges determined to ruin the evening, and still somehow room in my head for one more new plant variety. I keep telling myself I might grow a little less next year, and then immediately ignore my own advice.
