Sweet pea evenings and a garden that feels full

There is not much that beats mid-June in the garden for me. Everything feels generous at this point – even the borders I have definitely overplanted look glorious rather than alarming, and the sweet peas are finally giving me the kind of bunches I dream about in winter.

There have been lovely evening pickings, friends in the garden, children running around making flower crowns, and the first dahlia flowers beginning to appear. It is that brief part of the season where the garden feels full without yet feeling tired, and I wish I could keep it exactly here for a while.
