The autumn storms and rain have started taking over now, and I am happy to let the garden settle more gently this year. I am not in a rush to clear everything or cut it all back. There is still beauty in what remains, and I quite like letting the garden tell me when it is really finished.
I have been looking back on some of my summer favourites while also taking inspiration from a visit to West Dean, where the dahlias and grasses were looking wonderful in the autumn light. A few blooms are still going here too, which feels like a small bonus at this point in the season.
