The crocuses are out and I am already thinking about dahlias

The crocuses are finally out and I had the loveliest little bumble bee wobbling around in them this week, which felt like the first proper hint that spring is inching closer.

Of course, that was enough to send me straight into thinking about summer and dahlias. I keep finding myself looking back at old combinations and planning what I want to repeat, which is probably not helping the lack-of-space situation.

It has also been one of those weeks of potting on seedlings, juggling family things and squeezing in jobs between the rain. Nothing dramatic, just the usual February business of trying to keep everything moving along.

I still think Valentine’s Day would make more sense in June when the garden is full and there are armfuls of flowers to choose from, but perhaps that is just the gardener in me talking.
