I think most of this fortnight has been spent looking out at the rain and wondering what on earth it is doing to the garden. Everything feels soggy, slightly battered and a bit behind, and I am trying very hard not to catastrophise.
The bulbs are pushing up now and I have started taking the chicken wire off where I can, which always feels like a little milestone. It is one of those small jobs that makes everything seem closer, even if the weather still feels stuck in winter.
When the rain gets relentless I end up looking back through summer photos of sweet peas and borders in full flower just to remind myself that this part does pass. It helps more than it probably should.
March is almost here now, which means the seed sowing is about to ramp up properly. I am equal parts excited and daunted, which feels about right.
