The first spring bunch makes everything feel better

I do not think there is much that lifts my mood more at this time of year than picking the first proper spring bunch from the garden. It always feels like the reward for all the months of waiting, protecting and planning.

The tulips are a bit of a mixed story for me this year. Tulip fire has been annoying, and I know some pots are not going to give me what I had hoped for, but there is still plenty to enjoy and I am trying not to dwell on what might have been.

The hyacinths are making up for a lot, both with colour and with scent. Every time I step out onto the patio I get a waft of them and it is impossible not to stop for a moment.

This is the point in spring when something new seems to appear every day, and that feeling alone makes all the soggy winter weeks feel worth it.
