For so much of this spring I have felt as if I was waiting for the garden to catch up, but mid-June is finally making up for it.
There are buds everywhere now, the sweet peas are properly going and I am back in that rhythm of going outside in the evening to cut a few stems and see what has changed that day.
I have been talking a lot about doing what works for your own garden rather than following every rule to the letter, and this time of year always reminds me why. Some of my favourite things here are in pots, or self-seeded in odd places, or simply not being grown in the textbook way.
Midsummer is nearly here, and despite all the frustrations of the season so far, I am feeling very glad to be in the middle of it.
