June has such a pull for me every year, and even after a cold grey spring I can feel the garden beginning to find its stride now.
I have been on peony watch, keeping an eye on the first sweet peas from the November sowing and noticing all the little shifts that suddenly make the whole space feel fuller. One week there is not much to pick and the next there is enough for a vase.
There are still the usual practical jobs of tying in, supporting and trying to stay ahead of things, but it is a much nicer sort of busy now. It feels productive rather than relentless.
I also had the joy of seeing Chichester Cathedral transformed with flowers this week, which is exactly the kind of inspiration that makes me come home wanting to grow even more.
