The garden is tired, but the hollyhocks are glorious

By mid-July the garden at home was looking a bit worn out from the heat, but the season still had some very lovely moments in it. I have been trying to keep up with watering while accepting that some things are simply going to look a bit exhausted by now.

A quick trip back to see my parents in Malmo was full of hollyhocks lining the streets, and of course included a garden centre visit and a bit of pot planting on my mum's balcony. Back home, the Japanese anemones are beginning to lift the back border again, which is exactly what I need when the earlier summer flowers are starting to fade.
